  • 1965-69 - Stena Danica (1) was the first vessel with Stena in the name. It was a lavish so-called middle-distance ferry which was built in 1965 at the shipyard Ateliers et Chantiers de la Seine-Maritime in France. She could take 1000 passengers and 120 cars, and weighed 2700 tons gross. Stena Danica (1) came into service June 24, 1965 in the Kattegat traffic. Our car was the first car shipped over to Skagen according to the crew on board. We were all nervous, we and the crew, since we were boardning on so called U-beams or U-irons.   • 1963-68 - Skagen II came to be Stena Line's first own passenger ship. The ship of 878 gross tons was built in 1924 at Oskarshamn Mekaniska Verkstad and was first called the Visby. She was bought in 1963 for SEK 105 000, and was then converted at the Götaverken Shipyard in Gothenburg when she also changed name ti Skagen II.   • M/S Poseidon by Stenpiren the 20th of March 1969. 1964-72 - Poseidon was the first passenger ship built by the Stena Group. She weighed 1 363 gross tons and was built at Ulstein Mekaniska Verkstad A/S in Norway. She could take 600 passengers but had no car deck. At the end of 1972 Poseidon was sold to the French shipping company Vedettes Amoricaines in Brest, where she was put into service across the English Channel. Then she changed owners several times.
